The first Cencosud’ supermarket in Chile was in Temuco, in 1960, with a selling area of 160 square meters. In the mid-1970s we expanded our business by opening the first Jumbo hypermarket in Chile, with a selling space of 7,000 square meters, located in Santiago.

Today we do not only operate Jumbo supermarkets, but also Santa Isabel, Paris and Johnson Department Stores, Home Improvement Stores named Easy, Shopping Centers and financial services.

In May 2007 we entered into an agreement with Casino Guirard-Perrachon S.A. in order to develop the home improvement business in Colombia. In 2009 Cencosud acquired Casino's stake, to own 100% of the business. In October 2012, Cencosud acquired Carrefour Colombia, giving the Company the opportunity to expand its multi-brand, multi-format strategy.

Today we have 10 Easy stores plus 101 Super/Hypermarkets under the brands Jumbo & Metro.
