CHILE

We trace our origins to the opening of our first supermarket in 1960 in the city of Temuco. In the mid-1970s, we expanded our business by opening the first Jumbo hypermarket in Chile, with a selling space of 7,000 square meters, located on Kennedy Avenue in Santiago.

ARGENTINA

286 stores with a total of 526,475 sqm of selling space

In 1982, we began our operations in Argentina with the opening of Argentina’s first Jumbo hypermarket which had a selling space of 9,282 square meters. Currently we operate through the brands Jumbo, Vea and Disco.

BRAZIL

222 stores with a total of 611,363 sqm of selling space

We expanded our footprint in the Brazilian market through the acquisition of three main supermarket chains. In 2007, we acquired the GBarbosa supermarket chain which operated in the northeast region, and later in 2010, we acquired what we estimated to be the largest supermarket chain in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, Bretas, which consolidated our position as Brazil’s fourth largest supermarket operator in terms of revenues, as measured by ABRAS. Lastly, on January 2012, we acquired Prezunic, what we estimated to be the third-largest supermarket chain in Rio de Janeiro.

PERU

90 stores with a total of 269,526 sqm of selling space

In December 2007, we entered into an agreement to acquire GSW S.A., the operator of Wong supermarkets, hypermarkets and shopping centers in Peru. Nowadays we operate through the brands Wong and Metro.

COLOMBIA

101 stores with a total of 426,393 sqm of selling space

In 2012, Cencosud entered the Colombian supermarket industry thru the acquisition of Carrefour. Today, Cencosud runs under the brands Jumbo and Metro.
